Rupas
 Our Rupas (Buddhist Statues) are made for us in the Himalayas by a renowned family of artisans of the Shakya clan, their lineage dating back over 2500 years to the time of the historical Shakyamuni Buddha. The Shakya family has been living in the Himalayas and making Buddhist Statues for over a thousand years. We are honored and delighted to be able to offer these incredible works of sacred art to the western world. The Rupas we offer are the finest quality available, each one fully gilded in gold and designed to the exact descriptions in the Buddhist texts and commentaries. The hand-painted faces show exquisite and beautiful detail. These very special Rupas energize the environment they are in, as well as inspire and truly bring joy to every one that sees them.
We are also one of the only sources to buy properly filled Rupas. According to Buddhist tradition with instructions outlined in the Buddhist texts, Rupas are specially filled with specific sacred Mantras and Sang. Sang is a special filling prepared by monks for placing inside the rupas. After being filled, the bottom of the Rupa is sealed; the Mantras and Sang add a beneficial authentic energy and quality to each Rupa.
The exact form of the statue is very important. Each statue is rich in symbolism, with sacred scriptures specifying the detailed iconography. These Buddhist Rupas are made using the ancient ‘lost wax’ casting process and require the highest level of craftsmanship. The majority of rupas available today are marred by poor attention to detail in the design, casting or finishing of the product. We have gone to great lengths to seek out and work with a family of artisans who are both highly skilled and have great respect for the work they are involved in.
Statues play an important role in Tibetan Buddhism and in Mahayana Buddhism generally. Each Buddha or Bodhisattva is understood to have enlightened qualities, relating to these qualities can help us in developing our own innate vast potential of wisdom and compassion. A Rupa is a visual catalyst and reminder of the beauty and enlightened qualities that are with in ourselves and all sentient beings.
We offer three styles of Authentic Rupas; Chenrezig, Green Tara and Shakyamuni Buddha. Each style is available in Twelve and Eight Inch sizes.
